      Resolution : Amendment to the Selby Athletic Association By-Laws

                                                Dated: 4/30/98

 

By the rights of the offices of the Board of Directors and the membership of the Selby Athletic Association, the Selby Athletic Association has created, reviewed, passed and do now formally state that this resolution is to be an amendment to the corporate by-laws and it is to provide for the following:

 

No resident of Selby on the Bay will be denied membership due to inability to pay the required membership or activity fees.

 

Participants will be any resident under the age of 18, with a parent or guardian that is a paid member.

 

General Fund

The SAA, upon active function shall create and maintain a general fund for the deposit of any, donations, membership and activity fees from which monies shall be used only to support the SAA’s day to day function, acquire equipment for activities and pay for any materials to promote or support said activities.

 Membership Criteria:

 

The following criteria must be met for an applied member to qualify for SAA membership.

1.      Member must be at least 18 years of age.

2.      Member must be a legal resident of Selby on the Bay; a rental lease or property title is the valid means of proof.

3.      Member must pay the Membership Fee or meet WFM criteria.

 

Rate Schedule:

 

Family Membership              $15.00 per year    (Fiscal year to run May 1 to April 30)

Activity Fee                            $15.00 per sport            paid per sport, per year

 

WFM Fund

The SAA, upon active function shall create and maintain a “Waived Fee Membership” Fund or WFM Fund. This fund is to be used solely for the purpose of paying membership and activity fees for applied members that meet the criteria to be classified as WFM qualified.

This fund shall be funded through the donations acquired solely through the yearly Fund-raiser Softball Game. If at anytime the balance in the WFM Fund becomes so low as to not be enough to support any WFM qualified applicant, funds must be transferred from the General Fund until such time as the WFM Fund is able to support those applicants again.

 

 

 

 

WFM Criteria:

 

The following criteria must be met for an applied member to be WFM classification:

1.      Any family that receives any local, county, state or federal assistance of any

kind.

2.      Any two- parent family that has a combined annual gross income less that

$25,000 per year.

3.      Any single-parent family that has a annual gross income of less than $30,000

per year.

4.      Any family with a child that has a state or federally recognized handicap;

including – speech, vision, audibly challenged, physical or mental dysfunction

from birth defects, non-contagious disease, or other that has been diagnosed

by a practicing physician.

5.      Any family demonstrating catastrophic events that given them an immediate

need that they are unable to prove via the above stated methods.

 

Note: The Board of directors will also hear cases, on a case by case manner, where circumstances warrant that a family cannot show physical proof of need, but may have means which cannot be anticipated through the wording of this document.

It is the job of the Athletic Director to review applications from WFM classification candidates and make judgments accordance with the previously listed criteria.
